LipoDissolve vs. Laser Liposuction

With the number of liposuction variations available, it can be confusing for patients to pick the right procedure. While laser liposuction and lipodissolve both have the same end goal—which is to remove excess fat—the processes behind the procedures are significantly different and will depend on the recommendation of your doctor.

LipoDissolve

LipoDissolve is also known as mesotherapy, or “liquid lipo.” Like what its name suggests, the procedure involves “dissolving” fat, or more specifically, breaking down the layers of fat membranes through injections of naturally occurring proteins and enzymes.

One caveat to LipoDissolve is that it is not FDA-approved. However, the medications used in the procedure are for individual use. This means LipoDissolve is an off-the-label procedure for removing unwanted fat. It should be noted though that thousands of physicians the world over use mesotherapy and there have been no reported adverse effects of the procedure in medical literature.

Laser Liposuction

On the other hand, laser liposuction is an FDA-approved treatment for removing those stubborn fat deposits. What’s more, the ultrasound technology comes with added benefits, such as stimulating the production of collagen for tighter and smoother skin.

Laser liposuction is often used for local fat deposits behind the arms, inner and outer thighs, abdomen, hips, and more. Compared to LipoDissolve, it is a “one-time” treatment that can yield dramatic improvements in as little as a week or two.

In the end, while both treatments are non-surgical and minimally invasive alternatives to losing fat and contouring the body, patients may have more reasons to opt for laser liposuction between the two.
