Combine Ulthera with Fillers for a Younger, Fresher You

Ulthera is an FDA-approved non-surgical, non-invasive cosmetic treatment that lifts and tightens loose skin in the brow, chin, neck, and décolletage areas to give you a younger, more vibrant look. What Ulthera can’t do, however, is add volume and fullness to the skin. This is where injectable fillers come in.

There are many types of dermal fillers, and several of them—including Juvederm, Voluma, Restylane, Sculptra, and Radiesse—are provided by Rejuvé. Procedures involving these fillers inject Hyaluronic acid or other natural substance, often in the form of a gel, into target areas in the face. This returns volume to said areas, and as a result, smoothens folds and wrinkles.

By combining facial fillers with Ultherapy skin tightening, our San José physicians can augment the effects of both procedures. There are even some studies that have shown such a combination can promote the production of additional collagen. All this results in fuller, firmer, smoother, and younger-looking skin—in other words: the consummate nonsurgical facelift, brow lift, or neck lift. This is an effective, more convenient, and less uncomfortable alternative to traditional surgical lifts.

The question is: is it safe to combine Ulthera and fillers?

The short answer is yes, Ulthera can indeed be combined with other anti-aging interventions such as the aforementioned fillers. Whether or not such a combination is necessary, however, depends on what kind of results you’re aiming for. At any rate, your physician will determine the exact treatment or combination of treatments you’ll need to achieve your specific goal.

Nevertheless, there’s some concern that the heat produced by the Ulthera procedure can dissolve fillers. Fillers are injected at depths often targeted by Ulthera’s focused ultrasound energy, so such apprehensions are understandable.

It has yet to be observed in any studies if Ulthera can indeed melt fillers. However, despite this, some physicians advise undergoing the Ulthera treatment prior to being injected with fillers and waiting about 2 weeks between treatments. Other physicians administer both treatments in the same session but treat different areas. For example, a patient could have fillers injected in their cheeks and their brows treated with Ulthera in a single session. As mentioned above, the treatment(s) you’ll receive will ultimately depend on the results you’re hoping for.
