VASER Lipo

Vaser® Liposuction can remove fat deposits in the abdomen, love handles, thighs, knees, flanks, calves, buttocks, hips, back, arms, breasts, and other areas. It begins with the same process of anesthesia application as that used for laser liposuction. Small incisions are made in the treatment area, allowing the insertion of small-diameter probes directly into the fat deposit. The probes create high-frequency vibrations that loosen the fat cells. These vibrations are so advanced that it does not damage the surrounding tissue. Next, special tubes gently vacuum the fat from beneath the skin. The Vaser Liposuction allows the debulking of large fat deposits if necessary without additional recovery time.

Your recovery time will depend upon the extent of your treatment, but most will find that they will be able to return to work in 2-3 days. Many patients report noticing immediate results. However, it can take three to six months for the full results of the treatment to become apparent.

With VASER Lipo, Dr. Tang can produce eye-catching results in just one session — without the pain and long downtime of typical liposuction treatments.

Precise Body Sculpting Treatments

VASER Lipo uses a process called LipoSelection® to target specific areas of fat throughout the body. It’s powerful enough to target large areas of fat, yet gentle enough to also treat delicate areas of the body, such as the neck and arms.

VASER Hi Def™ is an advanced body sculpting technique. It creates a sculpted, athletic appearance in men and women by removing fat around muscle groups and making muscles more defined.

A Safe Option for Liposuction

Typical liposuction aggressively removes fat, which can damage surrounding tissues and impose a longer recovery period. VASER Lipo is tissue-selective, meaning it can specifically target fat, while protecting nerves, blood vessels and connective tissues from damage. As a result, patients experience minimal pain and bruising and a quick return to normal activities.

A Typical VASER Lipo Procedure

1. VASER Lipo is performed while patients are awake at the office using local anesthesia.

2. Unwanted fat is treated with VASER Lipo ultrasonic energy and gently removed from the body. The procedure may take from one hour to several hours depending on the number of areas being treated.

3. Patients are required to wear special compression garments to help their skin conform to their body’s new contours. A short period of rest (typically 12 hours) is recommended, followed by two to three weeks where strenuous activities should be avoided.

4. Results begin to appear immediately after the VASER Lipo procedure and continue to improve with time as the tissues in the treatment area heal. Final results are typically seen in about three to six months.

Considering a Fat Transfer Procedure?

A hot trend in body sculpting, fat transfer procedures use your own fat (removed from one area of your body) to volumize or contour another part of the body. VASER Lipo-treated fat is typically higher-quality and easier to transfer for these types of procedures. (Please see study). For example, Dr. Tang can transfer the fat from the Vaser Lipo procedure and use this to volumize the face instead of using a traditional dermal filler for longer lasting but still natural looking results.

How It Works?

VASER Lipo uses a minimally invasive technique called LipoSelection® to selectively break apart and gently remove unwanted fat.

To begin the procedure, the targeted area is injected with a special saline solution known as “tumescent fluid.” Tumescent fluid numbs the target area and shrinks local blood vessels. It also temporarily expands the volume of the targeted area, making fat cells easier to remove.

Small-diameter probes are then inserted into the body through small incisions. By resonating at a high ultrasonic frequency, the probes literally shake loose fat cells — while leaving blood vessels, nerves and connective tissues unharmed.

The loose fat cells mix with the tumescent fluid, which is then removed from the body using gentle suction.

After the surgery, patients are prescribed a recovery regimen to promote maximum skin retraction and smooth results. Dr. Tang may recommend massage therapy or other modalities to enhance results and speed recovery.

FAQ’s (Frequently Asked Questions)

Every body type has areas that are predisposed to fat storage and even with rigorous diet and exercise those unwanted bulges often persist. Patented VASER® technology and the advanced LipoSelection® technique now offer a safe alternative for eliminating unwanted fat, revealing a smooth new shape with fast recovery.

What is VASER Lipo? How does it differ from traditional liposuction?
VASER Lipo is an advanced body contouring procedure that selectively removes unwanted body fat. An alternative to the harsh techniques of traditional liposuction, VASER Lipo uses state-of-the-art ultrasound technology designed to gently reshape your body. What distinguishes the VASER Lipo procedure is its ability to differentiate targeted fat from other important tissues – such as nerves, blood vessels and connective tissue. Innovative VASER technology breaks up fat while preserving these other important tissues to promote smooth results and rapid healing.

How does VASER Lipo work?
First, the area to be reshaped is filled with a tumescent saline solution that helps numb the site and shrink the blood vessels (to minimize blood loss and reduce bruising). This solution wets and fills the area to be treated, making it easier to break up fatty tissue with the VASER Lipo System’s ultrasound energy. Then a small probe transmits sound energy to break up (liquefy) fat on contact while preserving other important tissues. Finally, the liquefied fat is removed through a gentle suction process designed to minimize trauma to surrounding tissue structures such as nerves, blood vessels and other connective tissues.

What body areas can be treated with VASER Lipo?
Doctors have experienced great success in treating all of the following areas: abdomen, thighs, knees, ankles, calves, buttocks, hips, back, arms, male and female breasts, love handles, chin, face, and just about any other body part you need treated.

How much fat can be taken? Can you treat multiple areas at once?
VASER Lipo allows physicians to treat multiple body areas at one time. Dr. Tang will be able to give you a better idea of what is right for you and how much fat will be taken out during your procedure. Bear in mind that this procedure is not intended as a weight loss solution. The goal is to create a slimmer silhouette. You may not notice a significant amount of weight loss, but you should be pleased with your slimmer new shape.

Where is VASER® Lipo performed?
VASER Lipo is performed in a clean or sterile environment. Some possible options are in a doctor’s office, an outpatient surgery center, or a hospital. Dr. Tang performs his procedure at the office under local anesthesia.

How soon will I see my results? What is the recovery time?

This varies with the extensiveness of the procedure—the amount of fat removed, the number of areas treated, and so on. Many patients report that they see results immediately after the procedure with the final result at around 3 to 6 months. It is important that you establish realistic expectations through your discussion with Dr. Tang.

What about future weight gain / fat migrating to other areas?
This is a common misperception. Following your VASER Lipo procedure, should you experience weight gain or loss, it will tend to be proportionately distributed over your entire body. Once you have fat removed, it is gone and, assuming a healthy lifestyle of proper diet and exercise, it will not return or migrate. However, because fat is necessary to a healthy body, some essential fat layers in any given area remain untreated. If you do gain a significant amount of weight, the remaining fatty tissue will expand. Normal aging changes can also be expected. These issues are related to hormonal and nutritional imbalances that occur with age and can affect the body’s metabolism. If this remains a concern, Dr. Tang can do a full metabolic work up which entails and extensive history and blood workup to help balance these deficiencies which in turn can positively affect your weight and decrease the likelihood of future weight gain.

How can I be certain VASER Lipo is right for me?
If you are frustrated by the resistance of certain body areas to diet and exercise, VASER Lipo can provide a solution. If you are healthy and seeking a fast, low-pain solution to losing stubborn fat deposits, the VASER Lipo procedure could be your answer. Although there are limits to the amount of fat that can be removed, Dr. Tang can assist you with your decision about potential areas for sculpting, anticipated results, and the recovery process.

What if my goal is to lose weight?
Vaser Lipo would not be a good fit. However, Dr. Tang does provide several options to lose weight. He can discuss this at the time of your consultation.

Can this treatment be combined with the Laser liposuction procedure?
Yes, this is an excellent way to remove targeted fat deposits while tightening the skin around it. Dr. Tang can elaborate on this approach at your consultation.

How much does the treatment cost?
VASER Lipo is an advanced procedure and without an in-person consultation and evaluation of the areas to be treated, it is impossible to provide an accurate estimate for the procedure. The total cost of your treatment will vary depending upon the number of body areas treated and the extensiveness of the procedure.
