MicroPen

Is your skin marred by acne scars, sun damage, stretch marks, or wrinkles? Rejuvé is excited to introduce a new treatment, MicroPen, which delivers significant results with less downtime. The MicroPen micro-needling process for the skin creates precise micro-channels in the skin, triggering new collagen formation without causing scar tissue to form. These microchannels also allow for the temporary penetration of topical products not normally absorbed so deeply by the skin. Read on to learn more about MicroPen, and find out whether it’s right for you!

Q: What is MicroPen?
A: MicroPen is a state-of-the-art precision tool designed to treat symptoms of aging skin, repair damaged skin, and increase the efficacy of topical skincare products like lotions and serums. Using a unique microscopic channeling process, MicroPen stimulates your skin to produce new collagen and elastin and allows skin products to penetrate into deeper layers of skin.

Q: Am I a good candidate for MicroPen?
A: MicroPen has a wide range of uses and can treat a variety of skin issues, including acne scars, sun damage, crepey skin, wrinkles, and stretch marks. It can be used on any skin area that needs cell regeneration or intense repair. Patients who have ethnic skin include African Americans, Chicanos, Latinos, and Asians who might not be good candidates for ablative lasers are good candidates for MicroPen.

Q: Is MicroPen just for your face?
A: Though often used on the face, MicroPen can be used on all parts of the body. For example, the crepey skin on the backs of your hands, acne scars on your back, or stretch marks on your abdomen and legs could all be treated with MicroPen.

Q: How does MicroPen work?
A: To prep your skin, a thin layer of topical anesthetic cream is applied to your skin to make the procedure comfortable. After the skin is numb, a gel is applied so that the MicroPen can glide over the skin. A sterile, disposable cartridge containing 12 tiny micro-needles is attached to the tip of the MicroPen, and the appropriate setting is chosen for the area being treated. Then, the MicroPen is glided over the area targeted for repair in a gentle motion. The individualized settings help to minimize discomfort and to maximize effectiveness based upon the individual’s goals.

Q: Will I have any downtime or side effects?
A: This will be dependent on the intensity level of the treatment which is determined prior to the treatment. For less aggressive treatments, your skin will have a pink glow immediately following your MicroPen treatment, and Dr. Tang will recommend products to help your skin’s natural healing. Generally, these patients experience “pinkness” for two to four days, but some patients heal completely within 24 hours. For more aggressive treatments, there will be more redness and there might be some swelling that may take 3-5 days to resolve.

Q: How long do I have to wait to see results?
A: Though many patients start to see healthier looking skin almost immediately, your skin’s natural repair process will progress over the course of several weeks. Collagen regrowth takes time, and you will continue to see improvement for up to six months after your final treatment.

Q: How many treatments do I need?
A: Dr. Tang will work with you to determine your individual treatment goals based on the health of your skin and the severity of the skin issues. The general recommendation is that patients receive a series of three MicroPen treatments that are spaced about a month apart. For facial skin rejuvenation, 3-5 treatments are often required for optimal results. For acne scars, stretch marks, deep wrinkles, or other forms of deeper damage, six to eight MicroPen treatments scheduled four to six weeks apart are recommended.

Q: What is the cost of the Micropen microneedling?
A: The cost will be determined by the condition being treated, the severity of the problem, age, desired outcome, and other factors that can be discussed at your complimentary consultation.

Q: Is there anything I can do to maximize the results?
A: For patients interested in further enhancing their results there are several different home products that can be used. Rejuvé offers several different topical agents that can be discussed at the time of treatment.

Q: Where can I find the best microneedling treatment near me?
A: At Rejuvé. Dr. John Tang and Alexandra Tang RN have been treating patients with microneedling since 2012 when it became more popular as patients were starting to see a difference in the skin with this treatment.
