Who Can Get Botox Injections?

FDA-approved Botox injections are one of the most effective non-invasive cosmetic treatments that you can undergo to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. While everyone within reasonable age can go through the procedure, pregnant and nursing women are discouraged from getting the treatment. With that said, are there any other factors that doctors consider before agreeing to administer Botox treatment to a patient?

By mid to late 20s, the skin may start to lose its natural moisture, which means you may start noticing your skin becoming a little dry. With this dryness, lines may begin to appear on the face. And by age 30, the skin loses some of its elasticity, resulting in more pronounced lines and wrinkles. Usually, it is around this time that men and women start to consider Botox injections.

So anyone aged 30 and up with good physical health can be considered for the treatment. Before scheduling you for the procedure, your doctor will first conduct an initial evaluation of your condition. It is advised that you be open about your medical history as this will determine your eligibility for Botox treatment. If you have a history of neuromuscular conditions, you are considered unfit to undergo the treatment. Your doctor will instead recommend other non-invasive procedures to treat your fine lines and wrinkles.

And if you happen to have a skin condition on the targeted areas such as acne, pimples, or rashes, the doctor may advise that you wait until these have completely healed before you can proceed with wrinkle treatment.

We recommend that you schedule an appointment with Dr. Tang so he can evaluate your condition. Other than Botox, your options for wrinkle reduction are dermal fillers and non-surgical skin tightening treatments. Please call (408) 740-5320 to set an appointment for your initial consultation.
