5 Things to Know About Botox Treatments

When it comes to non-invasive cosmetic procedures for wrinkle reduction, Botox treatments always come first. They are the top-of-mind treatment for people looking to enhance the appearance of their expression lines or dynamic lines and wrinkles because they are a quick and easy fix. Plus, they require no downtime or surgery.

What you need to know about Botox cosmetic treatments

If you’re new to Botox treatments, there are certain things you need to know about it so you can make a more informed decision as to whether it’s the right fit for you. Here are five things you should know about Botox injections:

1. Results are temporary

What first-time patients must understand about Botox treatments is that the results aren’t long-lasting. At most, results can last up to six months, but in general, three to four months is the average timeframe. Around this time, you may notice the beginnings of your lines and wrinkles once more. Follow-up sessions are generally recommended.

2. Some patients feel a slight pain

Each patient’s pain tolerance is different, which is why some patients share that the injections from their Botox cosmetic treatments are painful. Apart from the sting or pain from the needle prick, they feel a slight pain on the treated areas immediately after the procedure. This, as well as redness and bruising, will resolve on its own. If you have concerns, contact your doctor immediately.

3. Stay off the treated areas

After your treatment, your doctor will give you a few reminders to ensure you’ll get your desired results. It’s important to follow these reminders and instructions carefully to prevent any negative side effects. For the next 24 hours after treatment, do not rub or massage the treated areas to prevent the Botox solution from spreading to other parts of the face. Remember that Botox temporarily paralyzes the muscles, so you want to make sure no other part of your face comes into contact with it.

4. Refrain from physical activities

Just as you are not to rub or massage the treated areas, you are not to exercise vigorously too (i.e. running, jumping, heavy lifting), for the next 24 hours. Again, this is to prevent the solution from migrating to other parts of your body and experiencing adverse side effects. Botox cosmetic treatments are FDA-approved so there’s no need to worry. These are but reminders that will ensure you receive optimal results from your treatment.

5. Botox can be safely paired with other non-invasive treatments

If you have hollow cheeks or your face has lost its youth and suppleness, dermal fillers could be the right solution for you. Dermal fillers are paired with Botox cosmetic treatments to achieve an overall youthful appearance. Your doctor will discuss other treatments that will complement your Botox treatments.
