Ultherapy Treatment: 4 Lifestyle Habits That Damage Your Skin

Aging causes a number of physical and physiological changes, and while these are inevitable, they usually appear when they should; meaning, they manifest as you age. There are people, however, who experience common signs of aging ahead of others. And while non-invasive procedures like Ultherapy treatment can make wrinkles less visible and give your skin a natural-looking lift, it will benefit your skin more if you combine results with a healthy lifestyle.

On that note, here are a few lifestyle habits that are harming your skin. If you practice any of these, it’s time to make a change if you want to enjoy your rejuvenated skin from your Ultherapy treatment longer.

1. Skipping nighttime wash

Washing your face with a gentle cleanser at least twice a day, once in the morning and once at night before turning in, is an important skincare habit that you shouldn’t neglect, no matter how pressed for time you are. Usually, people skip washing their face at night because they’re exhausted from all the work they did during the day. Some sleep with make-up on; others simply use a make-up remover and then go to bed.

When you skip washing your face, bacteria may build up and dirt may accumulate inside your pores, which could cause a myriad of skin problems; particularly acne breakouts.

2. A diet that consists of junk food

There’s nothing wrong with the occasional chips and soda, or burgers and fries. What’s wrong is having these for your staple diet. Consuming too much refined sugar and refined carbohydrates can wreak havoc on your blood sugar levels, which may cause the body to produce more insulin that it actually needs. More insulin means hormonal imbalance, which in turn may cause acne or pimple breakouts, not to mention a host of other health issues.

3. Smoking

It cannot be emphasized enough how smoking damages your skin, and your entire body, for that matter. Smoking dehydrates the skin, depletes it of its nutrients, especially vitamin C, and causes the body to produce free radicals. In a word, smoking ages your skin. If you’re a regular smoker, you could eventually look older than your actual age.

4. Popping pimples

Resist popping pimples no matter how strongly tempted you are. Popping pimples may cause infection, inflammation, scabbing, and scarring, to name a few. Be patient and let the pimple heal on its own.

After your Ultherapy treatment, your doctor will also remind you to always wear sunscreen whenever you go out or even when you’re indoors during the day as your windows may not be designed to effectively block the sun’s UVA rays.
