Ultherapy in the Summer: Things to Remember to Achieve Best Results

Ultherapy, with its “natural-looking lift” results, has become the go-to noninvasive cosmetic treatment of people who are looking to combat the most common signs of aging: wrinkles, facial lines, and loose or sagging skin under the chin,on the neck, and on the chest. If this is your first time to undergo Ultherapy skin tightening treatment, there are a few essential do’s and don’ts that you should remember, particularly if you’ve scheduled Ultherapy for the summer. These are the following:

Summer is the time to hit the beach and soak up the sun. But if you’re about to undergo Ultherapy, you should avoid getting the target areas sunburned as it can make the skin tender and painful. Ultherapy procedure is not advised on patient with a “fresh-off-the sun” sunburn.

After your Ultherapy skin tightening treatment, there are also a few guidelines you should be careful to follow especially in the summer when the sun is usually at its hottest. First, two days after Ultherapy, avoid any activity that will make you sweat excessively or make your skin hot. These include hitting the sauna, relaxing in the Jacuzzi, and doing strenuous physical activities.

After the two-day post-Ultherapy treatment period, make sure to use sun protection every time you step outside during the day—even when the sun isn’t shining. If the weather’s hot, the sun is there even if there’s cloud cover, so you’ll need sun protection. Use sunscreen that protects you from UVA and UVB rays, and one that contains at least SPF 30.

Ideally, you should apply sunscreen 20 minutes before you step outside, and then again immediately before you go out. If you’re going to be outside all day, make sure to apply sunscreen at least every two hours.

These are only general Ultherapy treatment care guidelines. For a more detailed discussion with a licensed doctor, please contact Ultherapy specialist, Dr. Tang, at (408) 740-5320.
