Skin Tightening
Aluma™

The Aluma is a revolutionary treatment for wrinkles, fine lines, and skin laxity. Aluma skin renewal treatments turn back the clock and gently reverse the aging process. This revolutionary technique delivers energy safely and comfortably to the underlying layers of the skin, gently stimulating the production of new collagen, while protecting the outer layer of the skin. The new collagen that is formed plumps and smoothes the skin, making it appear more youthful.

Benefits of Aluma Treatment

  • Virtually painless
  • Minimal risk
  • No downtime; return to normal activities immediately
  • Reduces fine lines and wrinkles
  • Tightens the skin
  • Improves aged and sun damaged skin
  • Stimulates new collagen growth within the dermis

Who can be treated?

Aluma energy is not affected by skin tone, hair color, or any other characteristic. Anyone wanting to treat mild-to-moderate wrinkles and achieve smoother skin can be treated.

What can you expect?
A revolutionary technology called FACES™ (Functional Aspiration Controlled Electrothermal Stimulation) results in energy deposited deep in the skin without affecting the skin’s surface. Because of this technology, no prep is needed.

One does not need to be pre-medicated or numbed. The skin is gently drawn into the tip of the hand piece. Energy is delivered in the deep layers of the skin. (See diagram below)

The tissue between the tips gets heated and this heat will then stimulate collagen growth.

A treatment typically takes only about 20 minutes. There may be some mild redness which resolves in 1-2 hours. You can return to normal activities immediately. A series of 5 treatments are recommended for best results. Fine lines are reduced and skin is tightened as new collagen is deposited in the dermis. Although some improvement will be seen within a month to a few months, the skin should continue to improve for several months after treatment as new collagen is generated.

Is the procedure safe?
Risks are very minimal. The specific risks and the suitability of this procedure for a given individual can be determined only at the time of consultation. All procedures have some degree of risk, though compared to other laser procedures, this would have the least risk.

Does it hurt?
Most patients report a gentle warming sensation or even a “warm massage” feeling from the suction hand piece. Discomfort, even mild discomfort, is rare. Most patients have described this procedure as the most comfortable cosmetic procedure they have ever had. Because of the gentleness of the procedure, no topical anesthetic or medications are needed.

What areas can be tightened?
Any area that has loose skin can be tigthened including eyelids, face, neck, arms, legs, and abdomen.

Is there any downtime?
No. Patients can return work/go out immediately after the procedure. Occasionally, patients may have some redness which typically resolves after a few hours.

Can the Aluma be combined with other injections such as Botox or Restylane or Juvederm?
Absolutely. Combination treatments often result in the best results. Often times, if the Aluma is done first, the amount of Restylane or Botox is less resulting in savings for the patient.

Does the Aluma treat sunspots or other capillary lesions?
No. Other lasers are needed such as the IPL.

Are the results permanent?
The results are temporary since the skin needs to have a continued external activator to stimulate collagen. Results last up to 12 months. Maintenance treatments therafter, will be needed every 3-6 months; however, the maintenance treatments only require 1 treatment vs. 5 treatments as with the initial course.
