Here are three treatments, all available now, to kick start summer 2022.

QWO Cellulite Treatment

QWOCellulite is one of the most common areas of complaint among many of our patients. Cellulite is a harmless skin condition that causes lumpy, dimpled flesh on the thighs, hips, buttocks and abdomen (1). While the presence of cellulite is not harmful, the appearance of cellulite can generate a great deal of self-consciousness and feelings of unattractiveness among men and women alike.

Treating cellulite effectively used to involve invasive surgical procedures. However, there is a new and easier way to battle the dimples in your derrière – QWO Cellulite Treatment.

QWO Cellulite Treatment is the first and only FDA approved injectable product specifically created to reduce the appearance of cellulite. QWO targets the underlying structural layers of cellulite with an enzyme called collagenase.

Based on earlier studies, it is believed that QWO works in three ways: stimulates collagen production, releases fibrous bands, and redistributes fat cells. At this time, there is no further information on how exactly QWO works in improving moderate to severe cellulite in the buttock in adult women.

At the moment, QWO can only be used on cellulite in the buttocks. It is the only FDA-cleared treatment capacity for the injectable product at this time.

The most common side effect is bruising on the target area, which shoulder solve in about two weeks following treatment.

Statin Side Effects and Why People Should Stop Taking Them

Statins

If you have been diagnosed with high cholesterol, your doctor may have prescribed a statin. If the levels of cholesterol in your blood are too high, you are at an increased risk of suffering serious complications, including a heart attack, stroke, and even death. Statins are formulated to block a specific substance that the liver needs in order to produce cholesterol. As a result, taking this medication can allow your liver to actually lower cholesterol in the blood.

While statins can be an extremely effective medication for reducing blood cholesterol levels, a number of adverse side effects are associated with it that could be detrimental to your health. There are various types of statin medications, including Atorvastatin (Lipitor), Lovastatin (Mevacor), Simvastatin (Zocar), and Rosuvastatin (Crestor).  If you are concerned about the side effects of these medications or you are experiencing any side effects, you might want to talk to your doctor and stop taking it.

Muscle pain is one of the most common side effects reported by people who take a statin. This pain can include soreness and/or weakness in the muscles. The pain can range in severity from a mild nuisance to severe and debilitating. In fact, many people who experience muscle pain as a result of taking statin report that they are unable to participate in regular, non-strenuous activities. Furthermore, the muscle pain caused by this medication can be lasting; meaning that even if you stop taking it, you can continue to experience pain.

In rare cases, statin medications can cause rhabdomyolysis, damage to the muscles that can be life-threatening. Rhabdomyolysis not only causes intense muscle pain, but it can also damage the liver and cause kidney failure, which can result in death; however, the risk of developing this condition is rare, as only a handful of cases per million patients have been reported.

CoQ10The reason for muscle pain or soreness is that these medications deplete a natural molecule made by the body called CoQ10 which is vital in the production of energy made in a certain compartment called the mitochondria which are found in all cells especially the muscle and the heart.  It essentially deprives the body of energy that needs for day to day functions and its ability to repair itself.  This leads to body aches and pains as it cannot produce enough energy.  Ove time, this can lead to insulin resistance which can develop into diabetes.  Other side effects of low CoQ10 are fatigue, brain fog, weight gain, and poor sleep.  CoQ10 naturally decreases with age and by the age of 50 it is recommended that everyone needs to start supplementing at that point since diet alone will not be enough to meet the body’s needs.  CoQ10 is found in animal protein especially organ meats though vegetables such as spinach, broccoli, and cauliflower have some.  Legumes such as lentils and nuts such as almonds and pistachios contain some as well.  However, when you are taking statins, diet is usually not enough especially when you have muscle aches/pain or fatigue. Dr. Tang recommends taking CoQ10 300 mg to help alleviate these symptoms.  Rejuve has a particular source of CoQ10 that is highly bioavailable and well absorbed in the digestive tract compared to many of the OTC brands available at the local store.  For more questions, please call the office at 408-867-7400.
