Get a Smoother Forehead with Botox Injections by Dr. Tang

Some of the most visible signs of aging are the horizontal lines on your forehead. Thankfully, this is an issue easily resolved by Botox injections.

Before we discuss how Botox injections can help you look younger, let’s touch on some of the reasons behind forehead wrinkles.

Forehead wrinkles: the facts

While aging is one of the major culprits behind any type of wrinkling, forehead lines are caused by a variety of things, such as stress, smoking, poor sleep, a lack of hydration, and excessive sunlight exposure.

In light of this, some great ways to delay the onset of forehead wrinkles include avoiding stress and learning stress-relief techniques such as yoga or meditation; quitting smoking; drinking lots of water; and applying plenty of sunscreens whenever you go out during the day. Generally speaking, observing a healthy lifestyle can do wonders for your skin.

Unfortunately, natural methods can only do so much, and there comes a point when the ideal way to maintain a youthful appearance is via cosmetic procedures such as Botox injections.

Botox injections for a smoother forehead

As a cosmetic treatment, Botox injections work by using botulinum toxin type A to temporarily paralyze the facial muscles underneath the skin. Injecting the chemical into the forehead “relaxes” such muscles, in turn relaxing and smoothening the wrinkles and lines on the skin.

Botox injections have been approved by the FDA for the forehead, frown, and crow’s feet as safe and effective. With that said, it takes a licensed and skilled professional to administer the treatment properly. The wrong injection dosage could lead to problems such as a frozen look or uneven or drooping eyebrows.

Botox dosages per syringe vary from 5 to 30 units. The appropriate dosage for the forehead typically ranges from 8 to 15 units. On average, patients are administered 10 units—2 units per five to 10 sites on the forehead’s s.

Initially, your physician will give you low-dosage Botox injections to gauge how your muscles react to the toxin. After two to four weeks, you may be asked to return so they can see whether or not the dosage is right for you. They may then increase or decrease the dosage as needed.

The results of your first treatment might wear off more quickly than anticipated. However, the more Botox injections you receive, the longer the results last, with the duration lasting 3 to 4 months. Follow-up treatments will allow you to enjoy the effects of Botox for as long as you wish.

As previously mentioned, Botox injections should be administered only by a certified and experienced physician.
