5 CoolSculpting Myths That Have Already Been Proven False

CoolSculpting is one of today’s most important body contouring procedures. Approved by the FDA as safe and effective, the treatment involves using a non-invasive device to administer precision-controlled cooling capable of eradicating fat cells in the target area(s). The results are remarkable: a leaner, sexier, and natural-looking body in just two to three months.

Despite the high satisfaction rate associated with CoolSculpting, some misconceptions about the treatment persist to cast doubt in the minds of potential patients. Fortunately, these myths have already been debunked, as you can see below.

1. CoolSculpting is for losing weight

CoolSculpting isn’t a weight loss solution; it’s a treatment intended for the removal of fatty bulges that defy exercise and a healthy diet. By eliminating pockets of stubborn fat, it tightens and tones your body, allowing you to enjoy lump-free curves that enhance your overall figure.

2. CoolSculpting is surgical

CoolSculpting involves no surgery and thus requires no needles or surgical incisions. Essentially, the procedure freezes fat cells. In the three months following the treatment, these fat cells are processed by the lymphatic system and ejected through the urine. A single fat-removal session may take half an hour to 75 minutes to complete. Depending on your goals, patients may need more than one session.

3. CoolSculpting causes pain

Thanks to the evolution of technology and improvement of techniques, CoolSculpting is now pain-free, rendering anesthesia unnecessary. Some patients even fall asleep during the procedure. Any mild discomfort quickly fades away as the target area eventually becomes numb with cold.

The treatment has no downtime. Patients may experience minor bruising or soreness, but such side effects don’t last long and won’t prevent you from resuming regular activities and returning to work immediately after the session. You can even start exercising again after a few days.

4. CoolSculpting only works on the abdomen

Excluding the visceral fat wrapped around internal organs, CoolSculpting is used to treat fat in many areas of the body. Common treatable areas include the upper arms; jawline and below the chin; abdomen and flanks; hips and thighs; below the buttocks; bra and back fat.

Each session gets rid of around 20% of your fat cells, so follow-ups can help sculpt the figure you desire. However, to ensure the best results, patients must observe a healthy diet and active lifestyle.
