3 Key Differences Between SculpSure and Liposuction

One of the most common misconceptions about SculpSure is that it’s similar to liposuction. In a way, it is because essentially, they both remove unwanted body fats and they are not for people looking for an overall weight loss procedure, but that’s as far as the similarities go. The amount of fat that each can remove differs. In general, liposuction can remove more fat from the body in 1 session and it covers more areas in the body.

Here are a few more key differences between SculpSure and liposuction:

Liposuction is a surgical procedure; SculpSure is non-invasive

The most important difference between both fat reduction treatments is the procedure. Liposuction is a surgical procedure that involves inserting a cannula under the skin. This thin, hollow instrument is used to “suck” the fat out. Since it is a surgical procedure, the patient is generally given general anesthesia.

SculpSure on the other hand, is a non-invasive procedure that uses heat from laser light to target the fat cells. The heat destroys the fat cells; heating the fat cells to a temperature where they are no longer viable. These fat cells will then be naturally flushed by the body.

Liposuction is generally more expensive than SculpSure

Since liposuction is a surgical procedure, the cost, in general, is higher compared to SculpSure. Factors that contribute to the higher cost include the anesthesia, medical team, hospital room for recovery, surgery equipment, and tools, and after-treatment care.

With SculpSure, you’ll have none of the expenses mentioned above, and you can go back to your normal routine immediately after treatment; which brings us to the next key difference between the two…

No down time and no recovery period with SculpSure

First off, SculpSure takes only about 25 minutes per session, which means you don’t need an elaborate re-scheduling of your day to accommodate it. You can get it during your lunch break and go back to work without worry.

Patients generally report no pain or side effects following the procedure, and SculpSure has a 90% satisfaction rating from patients.

With liposuction, the patient is exposed to several risks including kidney and heart problems, and infection. The recovery period usually takes about ten days to a couple of weeks, depending on the size of the treated area. You will also be given medications for post-surgery pain and preventing infection. Bruising and swelling are also common side effects of liposuction. Also, a post-surgical compression is required to be worn at all times for 4-6 weeks which can be quite cumbersome and hot depending on the weather and season.
